Southern Baptists have a statement of generally held convictions called The Baptist Faith and Message. God is.
Hebrews 11:6 says "Without faith it is
impossible to please God, for he who comes to
God must believe that He is and that He is a
rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
We live in a society that wants to decide by our
own reasoning if God exists. Richard Dawkins
has even written a book called "The God
Delusion".
I have never met a child that I had to convince
that God exists.
How is it that a full grown college professor
seems to have lost this inborn understanding?
The Bible answers that question for us in
Romans 1:21-22, -(read the whole book, it will do
you good)
"Because, although they knew God,
they did not glorify Him as God,
nor were thankful,
but became futile in their thoughts,
and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Professing to be wise, they became fools,"
